Last December, Peru will hosted the 20th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 20), shining a light on Latin America’s role in combating climate change.

As a helpful tool to show the impact of climate change in Latin American countries as well as the opportunities that the sub-region presents for investment into clean energy, Climate Action has put together a stunning infographic with over 25 useful facts and statistics.

Did you know?

- Latin America and the Caribbean are home to 23% of the forests and 31% of the world’s freshwater.

- This region is directly responsible for only 12% of global emissions of greenhouse gases.

- Between 2000 and 2010 there were 630 climatic events in Central and South America causing 16000 deaths.

This infographic is brought to you by Climate Action, UNEP and Peru Ministerio del Ambiente, hosts of the 5th annual Sustainable Innovation Forum (SIF14), held on 9th December 2014 at Westin Hotel in Lima, alongside COP20.
